Peter Cunningham and the Realtime Racing team broke records and topped the podium in the Red Line-equipped Acura TLX GT at the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Cunningham shaved 6.445 seconds off his previous Open Class record set last year, logging a 9:27.352 minutes sprint to the 14,110-foot peak. Since 1916, teams have come to Pikes Peak for the annual “Race to the Clouds” over the 12.42-mile course with 156 turns.
"I'm so proud of our Acura and RealTime Racing team, who, as usual, brought their A-game to the top of the mountain," said Cunningham. "We had some incredibly tough competition this year, but all of our hard work, building on the great fundamentals of the Acura TLX, paid off in a big way again this year."
The No. 42 TLX GT finished first in the Open Class and third overall, facing a competitive field of over 70 vehicles in the race’s 96th running. The TLX GT Cunningham raced was powered by a twin-turbocharged V6 engine and featured enhanced aerodynamics as well as revised suspension geometry and custom gearing. Over 30 years of racing experience has helped Realtime develop the TLX GT into the king of the mountain.
