Red Line rider Greg Hancock Grabs The Speedway GP Win in Latvia

Hancock shows off his "new tricks" against the young guns in Latvia

For the first time this season, the Speedway Grand Prix podium was dominated by the claw - and Greg Hancock proved you just can’t beat experience!

It’s not been the easiest year for the American legend, he’s used to fighting for the SGP gold medal and not battling for his place in the top eight, but class doesn’t go away, and he showed the young pups exactly how it’s done on an awesome night in Daugavpils.

With every corner Greg put his wheel in the perfect place and he had to use every single bit of his experience because he had some fast-charging kids on his tail all night, but he never finished below second in any of his races.

“I worked all night trying to master the quickest lines on the track but it was constantly changing and then I was working with two young, hungry wolves on my back too so it wasn’t easy!

“These young guys ride by the seat of their pants so you have to try and beat them with experience and knowledge, but it doesn’t seem so easy these days! They’re learning every day but I’m trying to stay with them, and nights like tonight show me I can.”

The Grand Final saw GH face up against fellow Monster Energy athlete Darcy Ward and World Championship series leader Tai Woffinden - and Greg made his best start all night to take the lead in the first turn.
