Chandler, Ariz. (November 14, 2010) - The Red Line-sponsored "Problem Child" Top Fuel Hydro won the International Hot Boat Association (IHBA) World Finals at Firebird Raceway in Chandler, Arizona, with a string of consecutive record-setting runs and taking the win for the second year in a row.
The win is particularly impressive considering the Eddie Knox-owned operation arrived in Phoenix with a brand-new boat, and this was driver Daryl "Madd Maxx" Ehrlich's first stint behind the wheel after a hair-raising crash earlier in the season. The boat's first full run in qualifying set a new record on the new IHBA 1000' course running 3.64 seconds right off the trailer. "Problem Child" then broke its own record in eliminations with a 3.60, followed by a 3.59 at 251 mph cementing both the win and the new record.
"It had been a long time since I was able to see these boats run in person," said Red Line president Tim Kerrigan, who attended the race in Arizona. "I was very impressed by Eddie's team and their professionalism, let alone by their outstanding performance after coming back from such adversity. To know that our Red Line product helps the team to dominate like they did at Firebird is very satisfying."
In the end, Eddie Knox Racing put six runs on the same engine and supercharger without replacing a single ring or bearing - an impressive feat considering the grueling conditions a Top Fuel Hydro drag boat experiences on the water. "Problem Child" is tuned by Eddie Knox, using engine components from Kalitta Motorsports. The "Problem Child" team runs with Red Line's 70WT Race Oil.
